A SEASIDE town in England could undergo a “huge facelift” after plans were put forward by a consulting firm earlier this week.
Plans are underfoot for a children’s play area, visitor centre and a new leisure centre to be built in Exmouth, Devon.

Under the proposal, changes are set to take place at the train station and along the seafront.
The forecourt at the train station is also set to be extended.
Plans for a new public space, where events are likely to be held, and a children’s play area and a visitor centre have also been put forward.
A new leisure centre, theatre and multi-storey car park could also be built, if plans are approved.
Other plans include extending the public space along Church Street and introducing more green spaces to the town.
Along the seafront, the construction firm has suggested transforming Exmouth Pavilion into a sports facility, which will complement the leisure centre.
The plans also included providing direct access from the leisure complex to the beach as well as additional seating on the beach.
An arts and culture hub has also been proposed.
Councillor, Olly Davey, told Devon Live: “I think it’s really important that we listen to local people as we go along. Unless we ensure that we take the people of Exmouth with us, we are going to get a lot of pushback.
“And it’s not always because people don’t like what we’re doing, but they resent the fact that they weren’t asked, they weren’t told, and they weren’t involved.
“So please let’s make sure that we really use meaningful consultation. We cannot run this and deliver it without the buy-in of the people of Exmouth.”
If the plans are both approved, they could cost around £6million to implement.
And Exmouth isn’t the only part of the UK coastline being improved.
Clacton Pier, the UK’s biggest pleasure pier, is set to undergo a £40,000 transformation, with work already underway.
The Discovery Bay soft play area at Clacton Pier is currently being transformed as part of a larger renovation project.
The soft play area will be given a brand-new look, and new additions, including a story-telling owl, will also be installed.
A £75million seaside attraction is set to open in Southport, with a beach thermal spa and surfing lagoon.
First announced in 2020, The Cove Resort would also have an on-site four-star hotel.
The surfing attraction would be similar to one opening in Edinburgh, as well as one in Deal, Kent.
And the huge £250million Therme water attraction is planning to open in Manchester by 2025.
The plans have not yet been approved[/caption]
